Michael Costantini

Originally from San Francisco, Michael Costantini has been living and creating art in Vallarta since 1995. "Voyages", his newest collection of works, was inspired serendipitously when he saw two small model boats in someone's yard as he was passing by. Upon asking, he was given these boats and promptly returned to the studio, removed the sail assembly, added his own superstructure and hung them from monofilament in his kitchen. Costantini was enamored with the entire effect of a floating vessel as these sculptures moved naturally in the breeze. And so was born the idea for this collection, which consists of 25 vessel sculptures and 15 small postcard sized paintings, but the vessels themselves are the main event. The "second voyage" or next generation of this collection will be comprised of larger vessels as he continues to explore nautical architecture through his works.
